Redirector / URL forwarding
With the redirector function it is possible to redirect traffic from one URL to another. The function can be used, for example, if a page is deleted and you want to redirect traffic to a new page.
Possible usage scenarios:
- If a page is deleted and traffic to that URL needs to be redirected to a new page
- If content is restructured and old pages are replaced by new ones
- If you want an easier URL to a page that is deep in the structure
Setting up a redirect
How to create a redirect:
- Open the content editor and make sure you are on the Danish language layer
- Find and open the Global folder
- Find and open the Redirector folder
- In the Redirector folder, find the relevant entity (e.g. department)
- Right-click on the device folder and click Insert
- Click redirectorpage
- Give the new redirect a descriptive name
Fill in the redirect element with the following information:
- Original URL (the page to redirect from)
- Check whether to redirect even if content exists on the URL (selected in most cases)
- Check if the forwarding should be temporary (permanent forwarding is the default)
- New URL (the page to redirect to)
Advanced redirect settings
At the bottom there are more advanced redirect settings, where you can specify whether the existing URL structure should be ignored or transferred to the new URL. In many cases, these settings do not need to be filled in, but contact DTU Webteam for help.
