Target group and purpose

A good website is characterized by containing good and relevant information targeted at the user of the page.

Before you start putting content on your website, it is a good idea to make yourself clear with whom the website will communicate and for what purpose:

  • Who are the most important target groups for your website?
  • What are their purposes for coming to your website?
  • What information do they need to find or what tasks do they need help to solve?

It is also important that you prioritize your content. The most important information and what the user particularly requests must be the most easily accessible (on the front page or at the top level of content pages).

Stick to content that is relevant to your user and that helps your user to solve the task he/she comes to your page with. The simpler and the more precise and 'to the point' you can make your content, the easier you make it for your user to benefit from his visit to your website.
