Edit a page

In the video you can see how to edit a page in Sitecore.

Below you will find a description of the workflows in editing a page.

1. Find your page

Find the page you want to edit. In Sitecore, all the pages are located in folders in a hierarchical tree structure, which corresponds to the structure you find on the website.

Click on the desired page. Now you get access to edit the page's content.

All sites in the Sitecore solution are located in the 'Content' folder. If you are in doubt as to which subfolder your website is stored in, write to webteam@dtu.dk

Tip!

When you are logged in to Sitecore you have the ability to easily edit pages, even if it seems to be well hidden in the structure.

By adding ?edit to the tail of the URL, you are sent directly to the content editor for that page, e.g. the URL https://institutnavn.dtu.dk/about/team?edit will open the content editor for the page "Team" on the website institut.dtu.dk.

Adding ?editpage will open that page in the experience editor.

2. Edit title, text, image and video

A typical content page is made up of the elements:

  • heading
  • subheading
  • image or video
  • text
  • text in menu

Edit the individual content elements in the fields under the Content tab (scroll down to see more fields).

Heading and Subheading are edited under 'Content'.

Write the desired heading and subheading in the corresponding fields.

Please note that you cannot format the text in these two fields. Here, formatting (font, size, etc.) is locked.

Insert picture

Insert image in the Image field.

Click Browse to open the media library. (Images cannot be inserted until they have been uploaded to the media library). Here you will find your image in the folder structure.

Click Select to insert the image into the page.

Provide caption if desired. There is no requirement for a caption.

All images on DTU's Sitecore sites are displayed in 16:9 format. If your image is not 16:9, it will be cropped.

Keep the image's original proportions by selecting 'Preserve the aspect ratio of the image'.

Insert video

Insert a video by inserting a so-called 'Video ID' from YouTube or a link to a background video.

To insert a video, the video must first be uploaded to YouTube or to Panopto.dtu.dk.

Insert text

Text is inserted into the Text field.

Click Show editor.

In the text editor (Rich Text Editor) you can write your text or insert a text you have copied from a document.

NB: If you are inserting text from Word or another page, you should use the Paste plain text button (indicated by a red arrow in the image). In this way, codes from the original document are deleted.

The editing tool contains a number of tools which correspond to the tools you know from a text editing program such as Word. You can e.g. format text and insert links.
